The flush door is made up of a single solid piece of wood.

Wooden panel doors come in single panels, double panels, three panels, four panels, five panels, six panels, etc.

2). Concept

The flush door is flat on both sides and it does not contain any panels. Flush doors consist of timber frames and solid wood strips are placed edge to edge in between the frame as a solid core material.

These solid cores are general particle board or timber and an outer face sheet of plywood or veneer or MDF or laminate can be used. The edges of flush doors are usually lit with hardwood.

Panel door consists of panels that are installed between styles and rails from the outside frame of the door. styles are the vertical lengths of wood and rails are the horizontal length of wood.

 Flush doors have limited designs and appearance wise they are less attractive than panel doors as it has a plane surface on both sides however with varieties of veneer and laminate now available they also can be made attractive and look like natural wood.

Panel doors are aesthetically more appealing than flush doors however it will depend on quality and design.

4). Construction

Flush doors are simpler in construction.

Panel doors are complicated and difficult to construct. A skilled person is required to construct this type of door.

5). Types

The types of timber flush doors are solid core flush doors, hollow core flush doors, and cellular core flush doors.

The flush door is manufactured using a wooden framework consisting of solid core materials and has got the finishing of plywood on top.

The manufacturing of panel doors is done in a traditional way by using a lot of joineries which include style, rails, etc.

9). Strength

The strength of a flush door depends on the quality of wood used in manufacturing the door. If a flush door is made up of poor-quality artificial wood then its strength can be less than panel doors but it doesn’t mean that all flush doors have less strength.

10). Hardware Holding Strength

Flush doors have plane shutters so they are easy to clean and maintain.

In case of flush door if you have laminate on top then there is no question of polishing or painting but if you have a veener on top then polishing & painting may be required.

Panel doors require periodic polishing and painting.

18). How They Are Sold

Flush doors are sold mostly in a bare form which requires further finishing, painting, or varnishing.However some manufacturers provide readymade finish door with door frames.

Panel doors are sold in a finished form and the only part left to be done after buying the door is completing the installation of the door.

19). Use

Flush doors can be used as interior as well as exterior doors.

Whereas

Panel doors provide more security and privacy hence they are generally used as exterior door.

20). Life

The life of flush doors is less than paneled doors and it depends on quality and type of door.

Whereas

The life of panel doors is more than flush doors.

21). Cost

The flush door is simple in design and hence less expensive and easy to produce. Many times flush doors do not come with door frames or when they do these frames are often costlier than frames that typically come with panel doors as a single cell.

For your reference I will tell you the rate of 30mm flush door of century make which is approximately Rs.145/sqft.

Whereas,

Panel doors are costly as compared to flush doors as they are made with lot of natural wood.

The rate of wooden panel door for exterior starts from Rs.180/sqft. and for interior it starts from Rs.145/sqft.

Conclusion

Now the question is which one is better –  flush door or panel door.

The answer is both these stores are available in the market. So it all depends on your need & budget.
